King Felipe and Queen Letizia mourns a close friend

Spanish royals, Queen Letizia and King Felipe VI of Spain stepped out in all black ensemble to pay their last respects at the funeral of Spanish, Placido Arangoa-successful

Mexico-born businessman and founder of popular Spanish food chain Vips, yesterday.


Amongst the mourners were notable guests including Peruvian writer Mario Vargas Llosa and Filipina socialite Isabel Preysler.  


Placido Arango, who died on February 17 at age 88,was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Prince of Asturias Foundation since its creation, on September 24, 1980, and its president from July 1987 to March 1996. He was awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Isabella the Catholic, the Grand Cross of the Order of Civil Merit, the Gold Medal for the Fine Arts, the Queen Sofia Spanish Institute of New York’s Gold Medal and the Juan Lladó Award for Cultural Patronage and Research.


Queen Letizia donned a black coat over trousers of the same colour and added height with a pair of stilettos while her husband, King Felipe looked dapper in a black suit.
