Authorities in Ogun State have launched an investigation following the discovery of a young woman’s mutilated body in a drainage channel along OGTV Road in the Ajebo area of Abeokuta.

The unidentified victim was found lifeless on the morning of Tuesday, May 7, 2025, with severe injuries, including the removal of her private parts—a detail that has led to suspicions of ritualistic killing.

According to a source who spoke with Punch, local residents stumbled upon the gruesome scene and immediately alerted the police. “We woke up to find a woman’s body dumped in a gutter. Upon closer inspection, it became clear that her private part had been cut off,” the source recounted.

Police officers arrived at the scene and transported the victim’s remains to the State Hospital morgue in Ijaiye.

A senior security official familiar with the case revealed that the victim was believed to be a commercial sex worker. Her colleagues told investigators that she had been picked up by an unknown man from their usual hangout in the Oke-Ilewo area the night before her body was discovered.

“She was last seen with a man who picked her up near Iwe-Iroyin. Her body had machete wounds on her neck and hands, and her private part had been removed,” the official confirmed.

The incident has caused widespread shock and fear among residents, reigniting concerns over the prevalence of ritual killings in the region.

Ogun State Police Command has yet to issue a formal statement, but investigations are said to be ongoing.
