Nigerian rapper and lawyer Falz ignited a firestorm of reactions on X (formerly Twitter) after boldly stating, “Fornication is not a sin.”
The post quickly went viral, drawing intense backlash and debate from users—many of whom quoted Bible verses to dispute the claim.
User @thereal_lulu26 cited 1 Corinthians 6:18: “Flee from sexual immorality… the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.” Similarly, @ella_bosslady_ argued, “It’s clearly a sin—part of the Ten Commandments.”
Some, like @drpenking, criticized the artist for making such a provocative statement, saying, “You dey chase clout at your age.”
However, not all responses were rooted in condemnation. A few users challenged the religious perspective, suggesting that the biblical interpretation of fornication—especially from Apostle Paul—might not be universal.
One user wrote, “Some Christian scholars argue it’s not divine law but Paul’s opinion. Two consenting adults aren’t necessarily sinning.”
Others pointed to what they viewed as double standards. “Most of y’all condemning him are just hypocrites,” tweeted @Silvah101. “You preach against it online but do it in secret.”
Another commenter added a challenge: “Explain why fornication isn’t a sin in two paragraphs. Let’s hear it.”
